No matter what event or fundraiser is happening in town, you can bet Elite Ag extended a helping hand. Recently, the rink purchased new hockey nets. When Jeff was contacted about a donation, instead of an amount, his response was "whatever is left owing on the nets, we'll cover that." Elite ended up making a $500 donation towards that project. Since becoming a part of the community, Elite has donated too; Ag society, Beef BBQ, senior games, Ogema Fair, multiple curling bonspiels, Ladies Night, Ogema Minor ball, Ogema Minor Hockey, hole sponsor at the golf course, library, museum, swimming pool and multiple ORCA (Ogema Rec Association) fundraisers. The list is endless. This fall Elite also did a meals in the field program to help farmers get through the tough harvest that we had. Elite Ag Services Ltd. might have Ag in the title but you could argue that it should be "Elite Community Services" for all that they do for us.
The community of Ogema and surrounding area recently built a new hall, curling rink and skating rink dressing rooms which was mostly built by volunteers. The next step for improvements to that facility is, which also includes a swimming pool, is to replace the aging swimming pool. The pool is aging quickly but the plans for a new one keeps getting put off due to having to do major repairs to the boiler system that supplies the entire facility as well as a compressor overhaul to the ice plant. The $15000 dollars could be a nice start to raising funds for a new pool that is dearly needed.
