The Oakville branch of Shur-Gro Farm Services has really dedicated people. They work very long hours in the spring and fall seasons including Saturdays and Sundays, often checking with customers one last time each day before they head home. In spraying season it is not uncommon for them to drop off product directly to the farm .
I think most farmers appreciate their no pressure approach to sales. They provide up to date agronomic and costing information with appropriate product availability while leaving the final decision to the customer. This combined with their "we are only a phone call away attitude" makes them an easy choice as an farm input supplier. They have also regularly donated input products to our community crop fundraising project. Profits from this annual project go towards the operational costs of various community buildings.
Oakville Community Club
This organization encompasses all the sporting and recreational facilities in our community. Our arena, curling rink, sports park, and community hall all are part of this organization. These venues provide opportunities for youth and adult sports as well as places for the community to gather to celebrate successes or share sorrow. In doing so residents enrich each other's lives creating a "community" in the truest sense of the word.
This funding would be put towards our community infrastructure renewal fund which is currently raising funds to replace our aging community hall with a new building that will also house a badly needed community daycare centre. Our current hall is nearly 70 years old. A new building is a "pay it forward project" that will meet our community needs for decades to come.
